Flavio Maluf is the Chairman and President of one of the most environmentally-conscious company in Brazil, Eucatex. He is a graduate of the renowned Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado (FAAP), where he graduated with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. This was before traveling abroad to join New York University for his MBA.
Maluf travelled back to Brazil in the year 1987. His family company had offered him a job in the trade area of the company. For the very first decade, Flavio Maluf served in this segment. He might have held various positions in regional and international sales and marketing of the company, but it was not until the year 1996 that he was accepted into the industrial area. That same year his uncle, who was the president of the company at the time, invited him to serve in the board of executives.
For a year, Maluf served in the board of executives before his family saw it fit for him to be the succeeding president of the company. Through the years, he has flourished at his job. Currently, he serves as the CEO, president and Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Eucatex was established in the year 1951 at a time when there were no legislations against damaging the environment. But even then, the company was determined to conserve the environment for future generations. So, they decided that they would use Eucalyptus in the manufacture of their fiber panels and ceiling panels.
Three years after opening its doors, Eucatex established its first plant, which was based in Sao Paulo. The plant started out manufacturing soft boards but soon expand to produce ceiling tiles and panels. Also, a decade later, the plant began to export to Europe.
By the year 1980, the company had expanded its market to more than 50 countries. At this point, the company was also operating a metal industrial unit and had opened another plant in Salto. They also had opened up branches in Holland, Germany, Mexico, UK and USA. The company also established a paints line before this year.
